John Ash baptised 1806 Cheddleton Staffordshire
« on: Thursday 12 January 17 13:34 GMT (UK) »
Good afternoon all

I have hit a brick wall and I am truly hoping someone can help me out

I think I have found the parents of my 3rd Great Grandfather John Ash born 1806 Cheddleton Staffordshire baptised Cheddleton St Edward but I just need to prove it and I cannot!

I believe them to be Thomas & Lucy Ash (Lucy's maiden name was Ash also) . Lucy I believe comes from a well known Ash family in Leek (Parents Solomon Ash & Ann Morris). I cannot find out anything about her husband Thomas on their marriage licence (married in Prestbury Cheshire 1790)(Thomas was 18 Lucy was 21 ) Thomas Fathers name given as Samuel Roson?

Lucy has a child Thomas out of wedlock born 1789 (father named as Thomas Ash) also baptised Cheddleton but all other children were baptised at St Edwards Leek (is this the same church as St Edwards Cheddleton?

On Johns census records on 1851 down as born Stoke on 1861 down as Bagnall - he was a potter by trade and married Elizabeth Taylor b1804 and had 10 children (most of whom became potters) he died 1866 (after becoming bankrupt in 1863)

I am sorry to go on and I hope I have made sense with the above. I seem to be going round in circles. I have an Ancestry account but not a Find My Past account so I cannot view documents on there

Any help gratefully received

Just to let you know that St Edwards Church, Leek is a different church to St Edwards Church Cheddleton.  They are about 3 miles apart
