Hi,

Not sure I have access to any papers from Bruce County.  I will have a look.

You could try here

Found some papers from Huron Co online, but didn't see obits for your Smiths.

Canadian County Atlas for Huron Co has A Beaton Sr. and A Beaton Jr in Lucknow, Ashfield, Huron.

By the way - impressive sleuthing from Mary, the RAOGK volunteer in Michigan :) :)

Marriage of William Wilson Smith to Catherine Amelia Blair... Bruce 7 April 1898.  Parents Thomas Smith, farmer and Mary Jane Benson (looks like Benson to me, but transcribed as Burson) ???. Witness Thomas Edward Smith.

Here they are in 1861

In Township of Huron, Bruce County.

Wonder if this is Mary Ann Smith marrying Robert James McColl in Kincardine in 1875??

If so, looks like she is in Bruce in 1881, 1891 and 1901 with husband and children, then the family moves to Rainy River.  The family is there in 1911.  She died in Rainy River in 1924.

Hopefully the local archives or library will be able to help with the obituaries.   :)

Earlier, I posted a link to the Bruce Museum site.  Looks like they will do research for a fee.  That site has a "links" option in the right hand pane... there are links to both the Huron and Bruce libraries there.
