Richard Anders Sgt Kings Liverpool Regt
« on: Tuesday 10 January 17 08:53 GMT (UK) »
Wondering how, if possible to tie in  Richard Anders on the 1911 CENSUS living at 6 Low HiLL, Liverpool. He would have been of age for enlistment during WW1, but he was married with two children. Bar Manager [Coach an Horses] don't think this would have been reserved occupation. The  Medal roll shows a RICHARD ANDERS, LIVERPOOL REGT Sgt 5503 and Y+L R 39736   Roll 0?/2/102 B18, any thoughts on how to find a home address for Sgt Anders or family names etc. The above details taken from Ancestry, Thanks

Were any children born to Richard during WW1?  Their birth certificates could show his regiment etc.

Are you aware that around 70% of WW1 service records were lost in the bombing in WW2? His could have been destroyed.

Nanny jan has it right.Only one service record survives for a Richard Anders and he is from Bishops Stortford and not your man.  The medal roll record for the one you cite gives a minor clue that might help if it ties in anywhere else.   He served first in 3rd Battalion Kings Liverpool Regiment but ended the war in 1st Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment (his second number) leaving the army on 22 January 1919.

I think MaxD's clue is in that he was disembodied in 1919 meaning he was a pre-war Territorial in the KLR so would be local to that area. His 5503 no. also indicates the same.

The Kings Regt Devereux Database link below has a Pte Richard Anders 005503 listed.
Entering his name on the touch screen computer at the foot of the Regt Medal Tower on the First floor of the Museum of Liverpool Life at the Pier Head Waterfront will provide more info held on each recruit including addresses and family.
However the building is closed for Maintenance till late February 2017
Will look for you in March when next back in Liverpool

Found one man with no. 39775 attested as a TF & transferred to the 3/KLR 19/9/16 & transferred again to the 1/Y & L as part of the EEF & posted to Salonica 22/10/16.
Quite possibly your man was transferred at the same time as no's were usually issued in blocks.
