Hampshire Archives - Tillman

I am searching for anything on John Tillman 1845 - 1896 and his son Walter John Tillman 1875 -1962.
John I know was a Bandmaster with Tower Hamlets Volunteer Rifle brigade for nearly 20 years and I have most of the newspaper articles from British newspapers, however I find that for some strange reason Hampshire Archives have the following records :

Description:   additional records comprising muster rolls of the Rifle Brigade, 17th London Regiment Tower Hamlets Rifles, 28th London Regiment (Artists Rifles), war diaries, photographs, maps, personal documents, memoirs, scrapbooks
Date:   1760-1930
Held by:   Hampshire Archives and Local Studies, not available at The National Archives

One such is:
170A12W/D/4215

Date   1985
Description   Typed document by Tom Craze
Admin history   RB
Also 170A12W/D/0871 REGARDING Bandmasters

Walter might also have been in the same brigade though on the R.E. SIDE.
I do not live in UK and so unable to visit and find their charges out of my reach.

I have found a few things out that you may already know. Parents of John were George and Elizabeth. George was a Coach Lamp Maker. He left a will leaving £1,476-8-1 to his wife Rosa Elizabeth-quite a tidy sum in those days. Rosa's maiden name was Gaskell.

Yes, George ( My great x 2 grandfather) had five sons, all but John went into Carriage lamp making, John went with Grandfather on Mother's side (Lerway-Blampton) and eventually took over the Stationery business. George also had one living Daughter Lavinia, who till she married William Angas and moved North to Sunderland, worked in the same business learning Velum sewing.

Evening John.  I’ve just joined this site and came across your message re a relative.  I wondered if you ate now aware of why the Hampshire archives have material on the Tower Hamlets Rifles etc.  I can shed light on this for you.
I’d love to know more about your relative who was a long serving bandmaster with the THVRB as I am researching this unit.
