Murphy Family of Liverpool
« on: Tuesday 03 January 17 19:30 GMT (UK) »
Hi everyone!

I wonder if anyone could help me track down the Murphy Family of Liverpool. In the 1911 Census I have Patrick Murphy (born Ireland 1861) and his wife Elizabeth (born in Ireland 1864) and their two daughters Anastasia (born 1892) and Catherine (born 1887) living at Athol Street, but after that I lose track of them - all very common names in Liverpool at that time.

I would love to know where they went after that, or at least where they might be buried. Any help would be so welcome!

Marriages and deaths can be found on:
www.freeBMD.org.uk       or
www.LancashireBMD.org.uk

However, there are marriages, in Liverpool, for an Anastasia Murphy in:
1915, 1916, 1918, 1919, 1926, and 1933

So, it's not going to be an easy search? :-\
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

There's two with father called Patrick. The other one married Patrick Lawrence Morris at Sacred Heart RC in 1916. They lived near Low Hill. We can also eliminate the following RC marriages as the father is not Patrick Murphy:-

1918 Richard H Norris
1919 Martin McGreal

if you check on
http://www.liverpoolhistoryprojects.co.uk/liverpoolrcbaptisms/baptisms.php
and look at Anastasia 1892 - you will see that Anastasia was baptised in St Alban church and her mothers maiden name was Elizabeth Burns
St Alban church baptisms for Patrick Murphy and Elizabeth Burns as follows
1885 James
1887 Catherine - mmn is Byrne - a mistranscription
1889 Mary
1892 Anastasia
1895 William

so they had 5 children - by 1911 the youngest William would have been 16 so probably 3 of the kids have left home

you should find the family in 1891 census with 3 children  :) :) :)
ADDED
Sadly it looks like James may have passed away by 1891
the family are in Birch Street ,Liverpool

I think Anasta*ia marries James CAMPBELL Sept Qtr 1915 Liverpool and then re-marries to Thomas Molyneux Mar Qtr 1937 Liverpool.

Death for Anastasia MOLYNEUX Dec Qtr 1976 Liverpool gives dob as 11 Jan 1892 wich matches the christening record.

I can't thank you all enough! You managed to break down a brick wall for me.

@Garstonite, that's definitely the family at St Albans, and yes I believe William, James and Mary all passed away in childhood.

@Maureen, thank you so much for this - I'm fairly sure that's the right Anastasia and Catherine. Perhaps, if Catherine was buried in Ford Cemetery there's a chance it might have been with her family (if she was a spinster on the Probate Calendar) and I'll be able to find Elizabeth and Patrick.

Thanks again all, your help is very very much appreciated!
