Does anyone know if there was a hospice, or workhouse, in Mare Street, Hackney c.1870?
              Many Thanks

Hello Wayne
The only thing that I have come across in Mare Street, Hackney is the Elizabeth Fry Refuge at 195 Mare Street. It was opened c1845 in memory of Elizabeth Fry primarily as an asylum. I found it on an 1868 map of Hackney and some information is on the internet.
Hope this helps

Thank you Jackie, Cathy and Peter. I've just discovered that the address that I'm interested in is either 57 or 157 Mare Street c 1870.
                   Many Thanks
