Yet another FTDNA question

I hope I can explain this clearly --

I did autosomal testing with FTDNA a few months ago so I have my kit number and user name and log in with that.

Nearly 3 weeks ago I sent off another kit for my daughter, using my email address again. I tracked the parcel and it still hasn't been delivered - it seems it sat in Heathrow for 12 days!

Anyway, I remember that with my first kit, once it had been delivered I was able to get info from the FTDNA website about how long the results were likely to take etc. I can't remember how I did this, and I would like to be able to do so again for my daughter's kit (once it arrives!) Obviously I can log in with my username and kit number but how do I access info about a different kit? Any ideas?

When you have logged in go to the Resources tab and click on Learning Centre. On the page that comes up is a heading saying FTDNA test process. Click that and it will tell you

After I return the kit, how long will results take?

As of December 28, 2016, there are no delays in normal turnaround times.

Most of our tests typically take six to eight weeks to complete from the time we receive your sample in our lab, except Family Finder, which is usually four to six weeks and Big Y, which usually takes eight to ten weeks.  Note that pending dates are an estimate only and subject to lab volume and quality control.

After we notify you that we have received your kit, you may sign in to your myFTDNA account to check your expected results date. Please note this is only an estimate and not a guaranteed results day, as a number of factors may cause your sample to be completed sooner or to be delayed.

I found that my samples went from UK to USA in about 2 days but then seemed to get stuck at Chicago for over a week,after it showed as  arrived at Houston P O it spent another week there before it was delivered to FTDNA - apparently the Houston Postal Service delivers to FT on Mondays and FTDNA "batch" at the end of the day each Wednesday

So tough if your sample arrives on a Thursday.

There was a "post" on the FTDNA Forums yesterday {Sunday} saying that from now on "Batching" will be done twice weekly-Monday and Wednesdays

You can read the "Forums" if you are a customer but in order to post you need to register.I have picked up a lot of information on DNA from them {they are free}

Help again!

FTDNA have sent me an email to say the sample has arrived, and that I can log in with the kit number and password.

I already have a log in with my other kit which of course has a different kit number; and if I change the kit number on login to the new number, it doesn't recognise it. Maybe I need a new password? But it doesn't give me that option, and I haven't been sent any other login instructions.

So I'm stuck in limbo! I can access my pre-existing info as normal -- how do I attach this new kit to my account? (NB same email address used for both).

Use the kit number of the kit they are now processing for a search of your Inbox.  There will be at least one e-mail from when you purchased this kit with the password in the message.

I then forward the e-mail to myself and add Mary 566777 for example (or whatever the person's name and kit number are) to the header to make it easier to find in future, because often the FtDNA e-mails don't include such details in the header. I have a separate folder in my e-mail for my FtDNA kits.

Sorted, thank you! Either I never got the email with the password, or I'd deleted it (that's possible as I was getting a lot of unsolicited "offers" from FTDNA before Xmas!)

Anyway, I requested a new password and now have access    Just need to wait for the results now! (aarrgghh!)
