Richard was a merchant in Liverpool and Wirral.
Old family portrait mentions him but nothing else. Anyone with local knowledge help?

There is a Richard h prince in the 1881 census in Oxton, Cheshire. merchant shipowner, married to Isabel,
Possible two children and servants

If you think this is him it might be an idea to modify your title to include shipowner, there are some shipping experts on roots chat who may notice the question.

thank you all. I will discuss this with some family members over Christmas dinner. I am hoping to find out more from them.
I suspect the merchant and shipowner occupations probably confirm it is the right man.
