Hello

I knew the Nimmo family in the West Bowling area of Bradford more specifically Harold (known as Bob) and his sister whom I knew as Isabel. I am sorry I cannot remember their parents.

I lost touch when I went into the army in 1960 and the widening of the then very nearby Manchester Road circa 1964 caused a major upheaval of families. I note from BMD that Harold married an Ann Varley in 2nd qtr 1963.

Wow. Thanks for that. My grampa was Alfred brother to Harold and Isobel. He passed away in June this year. As I said before I heard there was a fall out years ago and there was no mention of my grampa's family. His sisters did go to his funeral, I think one of them may of been Isobel.

Quite a coincidence really.  Just a matter of a few weeks ago I was remarking to my wife that the forenames on censuses in some cases must bear no resemblance to their actual registered name and I happened to mention Bobby Nimmo.  After growing up with him through the late forties/fifties one day out of the blue he said "you know my name is not Bobby it's Harold".  So I asked him why he got called Bobby?  His reply was "because my parents always said I was bobbing up where I shouldn't".  Good enough reason I suppose.   :)

Alf's oldest son was called Robert. He was known as Bob. That makes sence that he was named after someone in the family.

My mum is Ann nee Varley.  They got divorced when I was little and Michael and me were adopted in 1970. Dad remarried a lady called Jackie. They moved to Vinters Park Maidstone Kent.  My cousin is Robbie Flemming one of owners of Pace Alfred and Hetties son. I met dad when I was 18.
