I have the War Diaries for 19th Hussars, which I got from TNA before they were available on Ancestry, however although there is some info, there is much more information about the battle in which my g.uncle and many of his comrades were killed, on the internet.

Just a thought - perhaps one of the gentlemen who know about these things could tell you which Brigade the 2nd Battalion was attached to, at the time you are interested in.

Different Regiment, but I already had the war diaries for my Battalion of the West Yorkshire Regiment, and was then guided to their Brigade - the detail in the Brigade diaries was far, far superior and very detailed.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
If you don't ask the question, you won't get an answer.

Hi Stephen, his name is George Edward Gillbanks 26170 2nd Battalion South Lanc's Regiment, he was killed 21st October 1916 during the attack on Stuff Redoubt, or alternatively Regina Trench, I believe. He is buried in Grandcourt Road Cemetery, and on 21st October this year myself and my Brother Bill and his two sons visited him there, after paying our respects we poured some Champagne on his grave, The cemetery itself is accessed by tramping across two fields, one of which was quite muddy, the other had cabbages growing in it. I would be grateful if you could find the relevant information for me. Regards, Jim.
