Is it possible that someone has coloured his tie and sidecap with black marker as the scribble on his upper right chest suggests ?
Just a remote possibility that he could be Royal Artillery by the lanyard, but that in itself isn't proof of regiment as others also wore white lanyards

I think he's a WO II. The coloured side hat could be regimental or corps. There is a badge there, but indestinct. Hopefully, someone has a book on British caps/cap badges WWII. Google is, needless to say, useless.

I still think his sidecap and tie are coloured in, certainly the tie should be khaki, the sidecap has a "tail" that nearly touches his eye, (a mistake by the colourer/)

I did consider Surrey Yeomanry who were an integral part of the 98th Regiment R.A. at B.E.F. and Dunkirk, the badge is indistinct but with some shape of the top half of the Surrey Yeomanry.

Forgive my ignorance... and shoot me down in flames  :) but when I saw the dark tie and the cap badge, I presumed RAF.
