HI,

I am trying to track John Roberts who was born in 1860.  According to Census records, he was born in Prestergne.   His wife was Eliza and his mother was Mary.

By late 1800s he was living in Ludlow where his mother was living too.   Any suggestions would be great,

John Roberts June 1/4 1860 registration district Presteigne. vol 11b page 167. Mother's maiden name Swaincott

Not at all sure that is the correct marriage because I looked up the birth of John's sisters Alice c1869 and Elizabeth 1870 in Presteigne and their mother's maiden name is Watkins.

I do have the correct family?

Something funny going on because I can't find a marriage for John Roberts to a Watkins and the only birth of a John Roberts 1861 +/- 2 years on the GRO index is that of a John to mmn Swaincott.

There are another 2 Roberts/Swaincott child according to the GRO index:
No name bn Jun qtr 1864 Presteigne 11b 189
Annie bn Dec qtr 1865 Presteigne 11b 153

and a Roberts/Watkins child:
William bn Dec qtr 1865 Presteigne 11b 153

Something weird going on with Swaincott and Watkins - are they two separate people?  Look at the index numbers of Annie and William!
