Arlo and/or Anna Pickering obit

I would like to find what became of Marie Pickering born abt 1917 Detroit. I can see her in 1920/30 census and then nothing. I hope she is mentioned in her parents obits assuming there are obits.
Arlo/Earl Arlo died 29 Aug 1954 Detroit. Anna nee O'Leary died 31 Mar 1984 Detroit.

This person Matthew_Shelton, on Ancestry has Marie in his family tree and she is alive with 4 offspring also alive. You could contact him. He also has a photo of her parents so he must be related to the Pickerings.  I couldn't find even a marriage date for Marie but did discover that her full name is Marie Rita Pickering.

In the 1940 census she was not enumerated with her parents and siblings.

In trying to find a death for James J Merritt (not yet found) I came across a record on familysearch that has James J, Marie R and children living in Livonia Michigan in 1994. My question is how often were these types of records updated? I can see Marie showing up in the year after her death as a carryover but I get the sense (rightly or wrongly) that James J had died sometime previously

The US Public Records index often show people listed after they have died.  I believe they are based on things like phone books and mailing lists, so they're often not changed quickly to reflect deaths.

In 1940 James and Marie with two of the children mentioned in the obit Marie's obit are living with James's parents. Don't know why James has the middle initial "E" in this record?

Jame's mother Frances died in 1951. James was an only child.

In Marie's obit there is mention of a son the late George. He died in 1973.

James was not an only child. He had a brother Joseph DeWitt Merritt born 11 May 1907 and died 13 Jun 1926
