You are correct, my grandfather, Claude Bradbury, emigrated to South Africa after a dispute with his brother—apparently over inheritance, if what he told my dad was accurate. My dad, Peter John Bradbury, was born and raised in South Africa, as was I.
I’d love to learn more about this side of my family’s history! I’ve been searching but haven’t found much, and since I never got the chance to meet my grandfather, any information would mean the world to me. If anyone can share anything, I’d really appreciate it!
All my dad can say about my grandfather Claude is: "My father never spoke about his family to any of us here in South Africa. We did not even know his real name was Claude. Everyone here in South Africa called him Jim or James including my mother" - might explain why you were struggling to find him lol!
