The Reverend John Levingston.
« on: Friday 18 November 16 19:56 GMT (UK) »
I have already posted on this man in the Cork forum where I have received great help. While he was born Carlow he would seem to have ministered most of his life in Cork where his family was reared and his first wife is buried.
After he married a second time he would seem to have moved up to Bangor as this is where I have found himself and his second wife May interred in Bangor Abbey Graveyard.
If anyone can shed any light on his time in Bangor I would appreciate.

John.

Hi John, his obituary might describe his last years and would be published in the Bangor Spectator, Northern Whig , Belfast newsletter and or Belfast Telegraph. if you live nr belfast.  Copies held in Linehall Library and Belfast reference library, royal avenue. if not possible for you, write or email if possible  the Presbyterian Historical Society Assembly buildings belfast, or write to the editor of the Bangor Spectator.

Hello powerwicklow

I came across your exchanges today, some 4 years after they were posted.  I am a great grandson of the Rev John Levingston, the line is from Thomas Clarke Levingston (my grandfather who was in the Indian Army, 3rd Battalion 6 Rajputana Rifles 1918 NW Frontier (Persia) 1920 Rustamad, and WW2 in Burma) who married Kathleen Patricia Farley (my grandmother, a Sydney girl) in India.  They had two boys Robin Levingston (b Srinigar, Kashmir) and John Colville Levingston (b Rawalpindi now Pakistan) now both deceased. I have a photograph of the Rev John Levingston which I will be pleased to send you.  Robin Levingston settled in Australia after WW2 and married Alma Fay Martin.  I have two bothers in Sydney and there is another generation of Levingstons.

Hi.
Great to hear from you. Where ever you are in the times we are living in I hope you and all of yours are well. I have Thomas Clarke Levingstone ( Will change to Levingston, it varies from generation to generation, originally Leviston. ) in my tree but knew no more abt him than he married a lady by the name of Kathleen and he passed away in England in 1976. For me to pm you I think you need to have sent 3 postings and I can contact you. Would love to see the photo of the reverend John.

We were in Sydney last year and were hoping to get back this year but will have to wait and see.
