Looking for James Calder born about 1857 and spouse Catherine Kirkcaldie born 1865 in Scotland. They lived a short while in Australia then moved to America about 1903. They are in the Ohio 1920 census.  What children were born in Australia and which in Scotland?

If you search the NSW indexes there are two possible children in 1888 and 1891, but you would have to get the certificates to know if it is your couple.

Are they not on the 1910 census?

Good find, Debra.
Interesting to note that the immigration date (into US) for James and Catherine is listed as 1903 and for the four eldest children the date is 1904.

I'll have to look up those links but yes they are in the 1910 census but I've been told by a family member they had 7 living children but so many are with them in 1910. I also have been made aware that Catherine returned to Scotland to bring her mother to live with them. I've just begun the search for this family. They are my husbands grandparents and father, aunts and uncles. At 78 he's suddenly gotten interested and wants this information for his children and great grandchildren. Just hunting in the dark and have suddenly started find them. Thank you all so much. Any other links and information will be greatly appreciated.

A relative  looking for them actually made information available that has lead here  and other places with her information posted as part of her hunt. I had to laugh; when they first came to America they were in Deposit, NY. I'm assuming the children listed on the census were born there. That was the last place the Scottish family knew where they were. We didn't know they had ever lived there as my husband's father grew up in Middletown, Ohio. The laugh was-my grandmother was born in Deposit, NY and had many family members still living there when this family would have lived there.  Our families of a century ago probably knew each other. We didn't meet until  2009 and married in 2010. In the 1910 census his father and family were still in Deposit, NY.

The 2 youngest seem to have been born in NY.  By 1920 they are in the Middletown, Ohio Federal census. Now to find the children and who they married and where they went. Then on to find the family in Scotland before immigrating to America. I'm still hunting for my greatgrandfather in Scotland before he immigrated .

This family can be found on the 1901 census living 231, Church Street, Glasgow, Maryhill, Lanarkshire, Scotland. According to the transcription on FindMyPast son James (17) and daughter Maggie (17) were born Burntisland (same place as James and Catherine's marriage in 1882). Thomas (11) and Mary (9) are both showing born in Australia while Elizabeth (5)was born in Leith....Have you seen the original census?
