Gorbals parish register
« on: Wednesday 09 November 16 00:12 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking at the parish register of deaths in Gorbals in 1835. The register gives the date of the death, gender and name. After the age is a category labeled "Lair", I think. In that column I see entries like Hector, C.G., W, Lech Serv, Easton, McDonald, #55, Barr.  It's not maiden name, because these terms are next to male names as well.  Has anyone come across something like this?

Thanks in advance for any help.
Kathy

Lair = Plot here in Scotland. So what the register is telling you is that the person is buried in the plot belonging to so-and-so, or sometimes just the number of the plot.
Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.
