Thank you all for your help. In response to the bride having a wedding dress it's because I think this was a pre WWII photo; I believe the groom was a career military man. I have found a photo of him dated 1931 in Sudan so I believe that this photo was pre WWII.
How can you tell the difference between an army and RAF uniform and the rank according to the stripes? I would like to learn a little more about this if anyone would be able to tell me? 
The reason why I thought it might be 1940s was because the style of the hat worn by the lady in the background appears to be a 40s rather than 30s style...but I could be wrong.
