Who, I wonder, was the David Griffiths who registered the death, could he be the David Griffiths born in Flintshire aged 60 in the 1891, living in Canterbury street garston, very close to Wilson grove.

sikeywabbit says he's her father

On her death certificate it mentions that her father was present but he is marked as a
Griffith and her maiden name was Jones.

Is there some mistake?

I can scan it into my computer if necessary.

If the 1865 baptism I posted is for the correct Mary Ellen Jones, mother Jane Jones -
perhaps David Griffith was her stepfather  :-\

Perhaps seeing if  David Griffith, Mary Ellen & Jane Jones whereabouts in 1871/1881 might help :-\
but we only have Mary Ellen's yob to go on

On the other thread there was a suggested marriage Mary Ellen Jackson widow to William Monaghan,
Mary Ellen widow may have been a Hughes by her first marriage.

I only mention this because in 1881 the David Griffiths who registered the death has a number of Hughes children living with him and his wife .

Mike

Edit, Mary Ellen may have been Hughes before her marriage

Mike

York Street and Canterbury St are very close - Under The Bridge in Garston ....but Wilson Grove is about a mile away .it is up the village and is at the end of Bennett St - where I was brought up ...I now live 2 streets away from Bennett st and Wilson Grove and for the record ALL the houses in Wilson Grove are still standing ... :)

on that marriage Mary Ellen JACKSON's father is named as James HUGHES. Mary was a spinster age 23 (so right age) and William was a mariner

what makes you think Mary ellen's birth name  was Jones please

I think we need to ask the Op that question if they return, there is nothing definite on either thread

I will wait and see
