Death certificate of my great grandmother.
« on: Thursday 13 October 16 06:23 BST (UK) »
My great grandmother died in garston in 1894. On her death certificate it mentions thst her father was present but he is marked as a Griffith and her maiden name was Jones. Is there some mistake? I can scan it into my computer if necessary.

Hiya Griffith Jones is a common name here in Garston - I think the Griffith is his Christian name - not his surname

do you think this is possible ?

ADDED - for the record there was a Copper works here and the Welsh knew how to work copper - the scousers didn't - so many many Welshmen were brought to Garston early 1800's

hope that helps to explain things

just checked
Griffith Jones
Griffith Ellis Jones .....2 men having children in 1800's in Garston  :)

I don't want to build your hopes up - but - there is a man here in Garston in his 80's with that name and is more than likely from your tree line ....it looks that way to me ...his son died 5 years ago and was my best friend ....I am very close to this family and know them very well ....

just seen your post - what name would be on a possible headstone ??  and would you like me to take a look this morning ??
