John and Mary Jane Watson, Tow Law.
« on: Friday 07 October 16 12:26 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the death/burial for 2 of my great grandparents - John Watson, born in 1829 at Rookhope, Co Durham and Mary Jane (Collinson) Watson who was born in 1835 at Wolsingham, Co Durham.

Mary Jane gave birth to a daughter, Elizabeth, in 1875 at Tow Law but she does not appear on the 1881 Census so she must have died at some time between 1875 and 1881.

John Watson and his daughter Elizabeth are on the 1911 Census for Tow Law so his death must be some time after that.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Wearsider.

Have you looked on freeBMD? http://www.freebmd.org.uk/cgi/search.pl
If Mary Jane was in Tow Law when she died, then her death would be registered in Weardale R.D.
Same goes for John.

My thanks for both replies which have been most helpful.

I searched on FreeBMD as suggested as suggested in the first reply and found both references that have been suggested to me in the second reply.

The death certificates should provide me with further information, particularly for Mary Jane as her death occurred in the same quarter as the birth of their daughter Elizabeth.
