There are several merchant seaman records for men named Daniel Toft - birthdates ranging from about 1792-1820, all apparently born in Sunderland.  Is he one of them?

Marriage notice Jan 1846 for Robert Proctor jnr butcher to Mary Toft eldest daughter of Daniel Toft master mariner.

1851 census Robert Proctor 30 butcher, wife Mary 26, and living with he mary Toft described as mother but actually mil age 56 master mariner widow and Jane Toft sister 21.

Looks like a contender, so only need to find unmarried Mary jnr, Mary the mother and sister Jane in 1841

It is possible Mary the mother was Mary Elder who married Daniel Toft at Bishop Wearmouth on 11 Aug 1816. Mary's year of birth about 1795, so her Daniel likely to be the one born about 1792 on seamen records. It says his birthplace is Sunderland
