Spilsted/Vidler/Spilstead

I suggest you join the Sussex Family History Group as they have a lot of online records for members and it is not expensive.  They have numerous Spilsted/Spilstead entries listed.  Stephen and Ann seem to have had at least eight children, though some died as infants.   
I wonder if Jemima's second name was Ellen?   There is another child named Jemima Ellen baptised in 1862, daughter of Alfred who may well be your Jemima's brother.

There are entries on the Land Tax Redemption for 1799 for Sedlescombe. The first for William Spilstead as occupier of lands for which the proprietor was William Brabary. Next entry is for Step Spilstead as occupier of lands for which the proprietor was John Boys Esquire. The Sums Assessed suggest that Step Spilstead may have had quite large areas of land. In his case the sums were £6 18s 9d. The Sums Assessed for William Spilstead were £1 1s 7d.

There is a Stephen Spilsted from Sussex showing as having been transported as a convict in 1832. This was on The Lord William Bentinck to Tasmania. He was convicted at Sussex Assizes on 30 July 1831 and sentenced to 7 years.

I can only keep saying how much I appreciate your continuing help for the information on  Spilsted name.  Perhaps someone in the Sussex Family History Group may be unable to help me with my Spilsted’s inquires it’s been suggested it’s not expensive to join, I am not certain how much the Age Pension payments are in England, but in the Australian pension does not allow for a lot of extra.

 UK pensions are not much either!   I did look at the entries for you but there were so many that it was far too great a task to do and it is much more rewarding if you can do it yourself.
