1901 Girls Home in Salford, LAN
« on: Sunday 02 October 16 13:52 BST (UK) »
In 1899, my  3 cousins were orphaned. On the 1901 census, 9 year-old Edith Williams is an inmate at a Girl's Home at 11 Devonshire St in Salford. Her occupation is listed as "In training". There were a total of 27 girls from ages 5 to 15. Can anyone tell me more about this institution?

On the 1911 census, she is working as a Domestic Servant.

Thanks.

The Higher Broughton Girls' Home on Devonshire street first opened in 1873.
