I am looking for a record of John Halford (b. abt 1821 as of Census, actually 1817 as of Baptism Record in Hemington, Leicestershire, England) in the 1871 Census or his death record. I have found him in the 1851 and 1861 Censuses.
After doing more research, I found a John Halford in the 1871 Census Record, widowed and living with two daughters and two grandaughters. As the children are not present on the 1851 and 1861 Censues, I researched them back and found that the John Halford in this record is not the John Halford in my tree. There are records in 1881 and 1891, which also seem to be the same John married to a Margaret.
I believe John's wife Elizabeth (unable to find marriage record so I am uncertain of her surname) died 1866. I have a burial record for her, although she is referred to as 'Eliza' and the actual town of burial is missing; it states ,Leicestershire, England, which makes me think perhaps there should be a town before the comma?
If anyone is able to help me I'd be really grateful. I've added the information about the 'wrong' John to make it easier. I've been looking for weeks now, but either I'm doing something wrong or the record is unavailable!
Thanks everyone!

EDIT: If anyone is able to find his son George Halford (b. 1849) whilst they are looking please let me know. I also can't find him on the 1871 Census.
