I am trying to determine whether there is a link between Frederic Thomas Stone (b1829, d1907) and Charles or James Stone who came to South Africa with the 1820 settlers (Parker's party) on the East Indian. I do not have any parents for Frederic Stone and the dated would tie up with the Stone brothers ages.

I have just found what appears to be his gravestone in Uniondale, SA which says he was born in London on 20 April 1829, and died in Uniondale on 11 Nov 1907.

John Edmund
22 Feb 1822
George Henry
chr 12 Jun 1825

in each case John is a servant.

Another source has suggested that Frederic's parents were John and Mary, so that fits with the St Geo baptism and other siblings info. As Frederic's first child was born in South Africa in 1859 it seems unlikely that he was in detention in 1851. As the East Indian sailed from Cork and Frederic was born in London it also seems unlikely that Charles and James Stone were related to him.

Hi - I have copies of all the baptism certs of the 5 children mentioned in this chat. It is Ranelagh Street...and it is in Pimlico, London...I went there in September this year & walked down that street hoping to find inspiration (fail). We don't know what number in Ranelagh Str they lived which is a pity because it is not a long street. I also wandered past St George Hanover Square church & popped inside but couldn't find anyone to talk to.

Hi Niknak13, do the baptism certificates give dates of birth and is Frederick Thomas 20 April 1829. If so it confirms that this John Stone is definitely the one I am looking for.
