Vickers Armstrong, Tyneside
« on: Sunday 25 September 16 05:41 BST (UK) »
Hello. I am searching for information about Vickers Armstrong. My late husband's father worked there in the administration, and his brother as a mechanic....surname Orange. My husband Harry Orange owned a used car yard on Scotswood road, Elsick Motors, back in the 50 - 60s

I would love to get some information about Vickers.

My email address is (*) I live in Australia.

Welcome to Rootschat.

If you google "Vickers Armstrong Elswick Works" there are a number of sites on-line with information, including photographs.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I also are after information about Vickers Armstrong, my Grandfather apparently worked there for many years including thru the war. I think my mother told me that me was an engineer. I would like to find out if he served an apprenticeship there and if they may have records of his service.
Where should I start? I live in Australia, but I am planning on visiting Newcastle next year.
