Translate document from German (I think)

Thank you again Rudolf and John in Sussex. This is so very helpful. I am doing this for my best friend who is Michael Cap's daughter and was only 12 when he died and knows virtually nothing about his life. We are looking at all the places now and what was happening then and what he would have been going through.

Another question re 'taken to unfree / forced labour'.  Does this mean he would have been forcibly removed from Smolnik to work in Germany?

I still have some more translations and will put them up in time. All the Rootschat help is wonderful but I don't want to be greedy

Do you know something about Smolnik? There are five places Smolnik (I would exclude 3), and three Smólnik in Poland.

Is there a Polish name and what about his roots? He might have German or Austrian ancestors very near or very distant.

forcibly removed - we don't know it. To work in Germany might be his own decision, a chance for a better life than in occupied Poland.

Hi Rudolf

All of Michael Cap's documents that I have been able to source (DP statistical card, resettlement docs) have the same place of birth Smolnik, Sanok, Poland. His nationality was Polish/Ukraine and religion Greek Catholic. I have his date of birth 1 May 1928 but looking as to how to get a birth certificate is so complicated from Australia. I will keep trying as this would be the key to finding family.

I have found many people with the surname Cap in Sanok but they are all too early to make a connection. At this point we would really like to find some living relatives and the ancestors can be found later.
