Help with a few words on marriage record

Can anyone decipher a few words on here. I have been staring at it on and off for a while and have a few ideas but would welcome others which are more likely to be correct

The words I am having trouble with are the first four. Then it says

'Alexander Wardlaw and Elspit Huston and gave up their names to be proclaimed and married'

Then the words after that I am unsure about also, apart from the name William.

It's Scotland if that helps.

Just guessing, but could the last bit be to do with either the person who married them, or a witness?
