my Donald Edward Wilkinson listed his profession on the boat as a clerk Was the one listed in 42  an engineer I found two a plumber and a furrier - My fellow came from a family the father was ships lamp maker / business owner  I assume he  had a good education. He had two brothers run away to Canada 1904-08 both listed themselves as carpenters
Will an Australian death cert give fathers name and profession

The index I posted has father's and mother's names. Unfortunately, as my Ancestry sub has run out, I can't look at the electoral roll, only the search result.

This is the fuller indexing of the death of the man given above,
Coburg is an inner suburb of Melbourne.

Mother Florence Ada  HODGES
Death Place COBU

A death certificate will only have the father's details if the notifier knew of them, and that's not always known!  Information on a death cert is unfortunately not always as much as we would like or expect to see.

It appears that the Borda went straight from the UK to Melbourne via Adelaide, arriving in Vic in Jan 1923.  The NAA have only indexed the passengers arriving via Fremantle in WA for that time period and these are what you see on the subscription websites.  As the ship did not stop there you will not find him indexed.

Passengers who disembarked in Victoria up to 1923 are indexed at http://prov.vic.gov.au/index_search?searchid=23

Passengers arriving into Sydney are only indexed up to 1922 on subscription websites.

You would need to contact the NAA and they will quote for a copy of the relevant manifest page.

You may like to look through the file for that voyage to see if he is mentioned:
