So it certainly looks as though the court appearance/conviction was either the cause of the marital breakdown, or maybe the straw that broke the camel's back as far as Mary Jane was concerned!

I don't suppose you can be sure, but it's nice to have one piece of the jigsaw fitting reasonably snugly :)

Thinking about where he might have gone after that. Do you have any idea where he was from in the first place? Any likely candidates from the previous censuses?

I know Annie, my grandma would never have put up with that-It's not as if they needed the money from the ham. I'v got some pics of grandma, mum and her sister and their dressed so lovely, mum said they always had a lovely home and wanted for nothing. Her  great granddad was a master joiner and had his own business, and her granddad worked for him.

I'v no idea where he was from....never mentioned, and not been able to find anything on previous censuses.
