Help required at the NLI
« on: Thursday 01 September 16 12:34 BST (UK) »
I have been looking for a family connection and may have found something in some papers at the NLI but being in Canada I need someone to look at them for me and see if it is a connection or not.
The papers are in this collection. I have the file numbers if anyone is willing to help.

National Library of Ireland Leabharlann Náisiúnta na hÉireann Collection List No. 90 Louth Papers (MSS 40,032-40,117; MS 34,907; MS L 96-97)
A collection of estate and family papers of the Plunkett family, Barons Louth, of Louth Hall, county Louth, 1548-1941.

thanks

There is quite a bit online about them!

Possibly give some more information as someone might find what you are looking for?

My advice would be to email Joe at the Library and ask the cost to get a copy of those.

They are very reasonable!   No harm in asking cost!

I had a quote of 20.00 per sheet, for pages im taking a gamble on that seemed excessive to me.

How much do you think someone's time might cost to look at each page and assess them for you? These are manuscripts, so it's not like taking down a book and looking up an index.

O i have no problem paying for someones time if it is reasonable, no one should work for free. I just feel that 20.00 per sheet is steep for me as this is a guessing game whether it is actually my family or not.
The letter about assisted emigration is the one that is of the most interest. Im looking to see if my missing McMahon/Malone family is listed on that document is all.
I was hoping someone may be heading to the NLI and wanted to take some pics or copies and make a few dollars is all.
