Gaffy-thank you for the information. Would it be possible to find out if William Beattie's wife was still alive and her name. Or info on deaths.

Having checked unsuccessfully for a baptism for James Beattie, I don't know of any ready means to achieve this from the standpoint of the information contained in this topic. In addition to the pre civil registration caveat already posted, Beattie / Beatty is a very common surname in this context.

1901 Ireland Census has only 1 couple that matches?
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Antrim/Clifton_Ward__Belfast/Old_Park__part_of_/978049/

But Elizabeth's age is way off - if you are correct that she was born in 1803, and still alive in 1901

Is this the correct couple?

If so, James was born Co. Monaghan and wife Elizabeth in Fermanagh (with 10 year gap in ages).

If it's not them have you found them in 1901? (please post the link if have).
Where did Elizabeth die?

I can't see a death registration for an Elizabeth Beattie (or variations of that name) in 1908 with a birth year approx. 1831?
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Made mistake-it should be 1831 and Elizabeth died in Scotland I think

Thank you everyone who is helping on this Beattie family. Also hoping to find information on James Beattie father William Beattie/Beatty and mother. If there was a William Beattie in Barnamaghery in 1863, would that be the same area that James married Elizabeth
