Have found this:

"David William, Son of Mary Wall was born in Ilchester Gaol and baptised 21st December 1830. The posthumous son of William Wall, he was sent with his mother Mary when she was transported to Tasmania. The ships surgeon reported that her behaviour was ‘Very good’ on the voyage and added in a special note that her ‘manners and habits’ were ‘most respectable’"

Many thanks for the info so far. Yes, the boy is David Williams Wall. The dates seem right and his age of 2 years 6 months but I am trying to confirm, if possible, that this David is the one who is Mary Walls son.
It does seem logical but I can't actually prove it, which I would like to, if possible.

Many thanks again to everybody who has replied.

There's a chance that the Orphan School site has the information wrong on this. I'll check their source in the next couple of days to see what it says

The information seems correct, it came from a list produced in 1839 detailing children sent from the Female Factory to the Orphan School in the years 1830 to 1839. I suppose there is still a small chance it may wrong as it has been collated in 1839, years after David Wall was transferred. It would be good to find collaborating evidence in another document. I'll post back here if anything turns up.

The MARGARET WALL listed as the mother of David William must be another child as Margaret WALL was born 1802 transported in 1828 on the ship "MERMAID" and was convicted at Middlesex. None of which match the Mary WALL 1832.??

The 2yo child of May WALL (Hydery 1832) died on the voyage out.

It is clearly stated on her record:

A full surgeons report which strangely says that the child of 21 months became sick then cured and discharged. ???

Quote from. http://www.familyquest.bndon.com/brame/hydery.htm

"Mary Wall's child, aged 21 months, taken ill at sea; sick or hurt, diarrhoea; put on sick list 8 May 1832, discharged 16 May 1832 cured."

More digging. ::)

I also initially thought it said 'died' but agree that the word is 'old'.

Yes she was a different person.  The OP is trying to establish if the child who died in 1833 was David the son of Mary, or David the son of Margaret.

The child and mother are both named, as well as the name of her ship?
