Rebecca Blanche WAYE Liskeard Inquest
« on: Sunday 28 August 16 10:36 BST (UK) »
Hello there

Rebecca Blanche Waye died 30 July 1917 in Pound Street Liskeard.  Her death certificate indicates that there was an inquest on 31 July 1917.  In the column headed When Registered there is no date, but the words Second Inquest.

Where can I track down the inquests or newspaper reports of them if they exist?

Many thanks

Jos

I had a look for you in the Newspaper Section of FindMyPast, but can't find an Entry on there.

Was she the Rebecca B. Waye, Born 1860, and so 57yrs at the time of Death?

Btw The British Newspaper On-line Site is always having '1 month for £1.00' Offers, and it might be worth you having a look on there. Inquests were usually reported in the Local Papers, but of course 1917 is during WW1, - when an unusual amount of Deaths were happening, - and so might not have been as well reported as per usual. One of my Uncle's committed suicide in 1930 and there was an Inquest, - the cause of death was ammended on the Death Cert after that. What does it say re: the Death on the Cert for your lady?

Romilly.

Thanks Romilly

Yes that is the correct one - in fact she was born in 1852 but lied to her second husband about her age as I found in the 1911 census.  Clearly she got away with the lie!

The Cornish Times back copies are held at Liskeard  Library on microfilm. You could email them and see if someone would do a lookup for  you.   they are also available at Stuart House in Liskeard, so they might be worth contacting.  The other local paper is Western Morning News which is held on film at Plymouth Central Library,  so it is worth contacting them as well.

Many thanks for the good advice

I'll be down in Plymouth in a few weeks time on business so I may take a side trip and check it myself!

All the best
