Oh, I meant to say too that if Malcolm’s folk originate from Craignish, it says in the Birth Certificate that they are in Ayr. Malcolm SNR is a Tanner xx

I dunno how you found that, but I am very impressed and pleased to make acquaintance with a distant cousin!  ;D

I have undertaken a lot of research on Malcolm and all of his sons in the US, two of them Samuel and David served in the Union Army.  Samuel was a captain and David was a prisoner in Andersonville.

Great to get the generation back another step, thanks for posting.

Hello Folks,
I have been working on the McLarty American connection recently and have added a fair bit of information to Family Search.
Malcom McLarty who was born in 1799 and married Janet Duncan emigrated from Liverpool on a packet sailing ship named, Aberdeen on 6th August 1849, arriving in New York on 7th September 1849. He then made his way to Columbus, Wisconsin.
During my research I also discovered that a son (David) of the Malcom McLarty (a Tanner) husband of Janet Andrew who came to Ayr was born in Southend Parish, Kintyre. This would therefore appear to be the parish of origin of the McLarty family.

Hello Jean,
Thanks for your response, my wife is a McLarty.
I have like yourself been researching for a long time. To be honest I have been concentrating on my own ancestry but have recently returned to my wife's.
I know you have been doing a good job with the McLarty line for many years.
I have as I mentioned, been adding anything I find to the McLarty profiles on Family Search and intend doing the same on Wikitree eventually.
Best wishes,
Charlie.
