Hi Claire

I thought Robert Hood died early 1780s, the newspaper said he was only Preacher at Newcastle upon Tyne a short time [began about 1780], when he became ill.

I suspect Robert Hood might be buried at Ballast Hills Dissenters Burial Ground? However, the Registers only go back to 1792, despite some Memorials surviving from early 1700s.

Just to finish

Robert Hood dissenting minister was buried at St Andrews Newcastle upon Tyne 20 June 1782.

Described as a diligent faithful pastor who kept an academy in Brampton but little was recorded on his life.

Hi, Mark

The register pre 1792 maybe missing but the headstones propped against a wall & flatstones
in paths with epitaphs/M I's are still there in Ballast Hills Dissenters Burial Ground.
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Hi

MI's for Durham and Northumberland are online, some with pictures some without. Some with inscriptions some without (just give date of burial)

I'm going to need time going through Heworth MI's for John Hood burial 1800. Nothing in the search for a Hood but there are plenty of pictures of eroded/damaged gravestones to peruse  ::)

Looked at a few trees for the Middleton family but all have Ann Brown as Ann Brignal. Can see a few Ann's born at the time but nothing standing out to me.

Finally back to the Wetherston/Hood/Scott MI. There was a mention of daughter Margaret Renos ?  - Margaret Wetherston was married to a Michael Renwick or Rennick. I see that name has cropped up as a witness in a marriage Mark has put up.

Claire

Added: For Durham and Northumberland there are 170 Hood burials/MI's in total - quite a few post 1900.

Hi Claire,

Wetherston/Hood/Scott MI

I've been looking at George hood ( a mariner) X Maudland marriage 1731 Scarborough

likely Children ?

George Hood baptized Scarborough 1733 father George - likely marriage George

John Hood (Later of Selby baptized Scarborough 1737 father George Hood X Eleanor Wetherston marriage 1756 Newcastle upon Tyne

I'm wondering if there's a connection to Margaret Wetherston in your post above
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Dave

There is a George Hood 1740 Baptism at Newcastle upon Tyne

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NDNG-Y4T?cid=fs_copy

More likely to be the husband of Eleanor Weatherston(e).
