Just to log info

River Trent area.

(bearing in mind John Hood 1779 marriage to Eliz Gibson was a mariner {waterman ?)

REPTON

(Only one child by 1781 Elizabeth)

R43 John HOOD, Elizabeth wife, (daug) Elizabeth 1781 removed from Ticknall to Repton

http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~spire/Yesterday/index.htm
In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

Not sure if you have had this.

There was a Richard Hood baptised in Leven, Yorks., about 11 miles from Sutton upon Hull.

Richard bpt. 9th August 1771 son of Richard and Susanna.

EDIT: Lots of children: Ann, Hannah, Elizabeth, William , Susanna, Sarah and Grace.

Father Richard a weaver married Susanna Drew Catwick 1758.

Very likely-Richard Hood Hood son of Leonard and Mary Hood baptised  6th Mar 1774  Osmotherley

Richard Hood X Elizabeth Barrett marriage 10 Feb 1817   Sutton In Holderness,York,England

Died 30th Dec 1838 aged 64 Sutton In Holderness upon (Jenning Street) Hull
Wife Elizabeth (nee Barrett)Hood and children lived Jenning Street 1841 c

Son William Hood a cooper Sculcoates workhouse 1861c age 42

From Richard's daughter Susannah Hood marriage -father Richard was a mariner

Richard was cousin to James Hood bapt 1771 son of Thomas Hood in Osmotherley - This James Hood a mariner later lived Sunderland

In my opinion the marriage residence is not always the place of birth. Never forget Workhouse and overseers accounts records of birth

John HOOD bpt. 1 July 1792 Tynemouth Christ Church
Father: John Hood, occ. Marir.
Abode: No. Sh.

This is transcribed on FS as John & Mary Hood, but no sign of Mary in the BTs (p160):
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:J789-TSH
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01ip8/

However, the BTs have 24 Dec 1797 Robert s/o John & Mary Hood of North Shields, Mariner (p228)
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01ip6/

Catalog No. 1068907 is said to be taken from the PR's, so is this a different John Hood to the one who married Elizabeth, or the same John Hood with a different wife?  ???

So if Elizabeth Hood nee Gibson passed away, John Hood could have remarried a Mary, they could be the Hoods that pass away in Selby.

I wish it was that easy :)

I wish it was that easy :)

If only.....  ;D

I'm slowly working my way though the Tynemouth records as they seem to have some other discrepancies, including this baptism:

13/5/1796 – James s/o William Glenton & Elizabeth Hood of Shire Moor, Pitman - Elizabeth's surname not mentioned on the BT.

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NDN1-CRN
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01ip9/

Shire Moor was the abode for the 1793 1783 baptism of Eleanor d/o John Hood, Mariner  :-\

Think I need to come back to the job tomorrow with less tired eyes.

It goes a bit blury when I zoom it - can you make out what's written at the very top left?   I can hazard a guess but the original may be clearer.

EDIT: Document has since been re-uploaded.
