Dunphy family

I am trying to find records for the Dunphy family my g grandmother married a Thomas Lanigan in England and her marriage cert shows her maiden name as Kate Dunphy born in Queens County Ireland, her father was John Dunphy a gardener She was born approx 1857  Kate is also known as Catherine Thank you would appreciate any help at all

There is a lot of dunphy families living in ballyfin parish in county  laois / queens county

Thank you all for the info I have received it has been so helpful I now have baptism records for my Great Grandmother Catherine(Kate) and her siblings IF indeed it is the correct family, how can I verify that??

In every record it shows the mother as Mary Nockton/Noughton/ Nocton/Nochton and other variations which I really believe are transcription errors and the father as John Dunphy.   

My next question is: would they have never married?? I cant find any marriage records at all for John Dunphy and Mary Nockton or variations

I also know Catherine went to England and she married there in 1877 aged 20 yrs (I have her marriage cert) this cert shows her father John Dunphy as a gardener and deceased obviously prior to her marriage. I can't find any death record for John Dunphy either, may have been in Ireland and catholic???

How do I find how and when she got to England and if the whole family went?

I can't find the family on the 1871 England census so I am thinking that she would have still been in Ireland at that time as she would have only been around 14 years old

If anyone could give me some ideas where to look and any help would be really grateful

Hello again I have been able to get a little further but not much more than what was given to me in the answers to my earlier posts. I have done a lot with mt English family and now it is time to concentrate on the "Irish" If anyone is able to help me further I would be delighted To recap my Gt Grandmother was Catherine Dunphy born abt 1858 in Queens County, daughter of John Dunphy and Mary Nockton (a few variations of that name appear) Catherine went to England and married a Thomas Lanigan there in 1877 aged 20yrs I would love to be able to get a birth certificate for Catherine if possible but not sure where to go to.
