Cheddington Parish Registers - Brewer and Fountayne

I have an Alice Fountayne and William Brewer marrying in Cheddington in 1634. If anyone has access to Cheddington baptisms (or any neighbouring villages) I would be grateful for a look up. I'm guessing they would have been baptised circa 1610  - they had children 1635-1652 and both died in the 1660s. William died a few years before Alice so I'm guessing he could have been slightly older than her.

That's great thanks. How are they spelling Fountain on that baptism?

On the IGI I can see a William and Jane baptizing children in Cheddington in the right time frame. There's a possible marriage for William and Jane in Pitstone and I keep seeing records of Brewers in Pitstone in the right era, including another Fountain/ Brewer marriage so it's a possibility that William Brewer came from Pitstone

  Hi..

 on the baptism it is spelt  Fountayne.

 the name appears as Fountain Fountaine Fountayne Fountein Founten & Founteyne at various stages through the registers. As Pitstone is very close that could be a good match just be aware the parish records do not give mothers name at this date and Jane on IGI is from someone elses research. Rebecca is the first to name the mother in 1625.  As he baptises both a Barnard & Alice/ Alys it is highly possible William was bap 18 Oct 1576 son of Burnard Founten as I found the death of Alice Fountayne wife of Barnard of Seabrook.
 The William & Jane from 1625 onwards could even be William who was baptised in 1605 son of William Fountein.

It all looks very possible . Don't worry, I'm not rushing to add Jane to my tree based on the IGI , just gathering clues that might lead in the right direction.

That's really interesting that Alice was possibly William Fountain's mother. That would mean that Alice was used as a Christian name in this line of my tree from then right down to 1900, if it's correct

That Alice could be her aunt. Would fit agewise to be a sister of William Fountain.
It all helps to build a picture, even if all the repetition of Christian names can be confusing.

Horton is about a mile from Cheddington.

  Hi both

 looking at the marriage Steve has in Ivinghoe in 1604 ....following in Cheddington is

  Jana  filia Willielmi Founteyne of Seabrook bap 8th feb 1608  adds with the strange spelling. I think she marries as Jane in 1634.
