Harriet Halstead born abt 1850 in Southminster.Essex

You could be well correct that the Harriett Halstead in the workhouse is a different person to the Harriet born in Southminster.   

I can't see a birth or baptism for the Harriet born in Southminster either which seems strange as her older brother and younger sister were both registered

I couldn't find any other information either on either, looked for a baptism from parents William and Harriett Tillbrook under both names in London, no joy there either

There is a MAHALAH Halsted born Dec qtr 1849 ?

Wrong thoughts, she is with her mother in Bradwell on 1861 as MAHALA

It seems strange that Aunt Susannah seems to have just kept Emily with her on the following census

Harriet(t) seems to be very evasive, if that is her in America I would have assumed there would have been some records for emigrating

Did Harriet Halstead die in the workhouse?

Harriet Halstead was the 11th child of Samuel and Mary Ann HALTED nee Collis.
She was born in Southminster Essex act 1850.

Her parents both died the following year 1851.The last child in this Halstead family, Emily was born 18th September 1851.
After the deaths of the Halstead parents the children were in the care of the Wicks family. (They had 12 children of their own). Susannah Wicks was their aunt.

Little is known of Harriet HALSTEAD ,
any help as to her death would be appreciated

Hi  One tree I was looking at gave all her siblings as dying in New South Wales so perhaps there are records showing their departure and it may include harriett   Ronnie

Indeed a mystery

As a member of the original HALSTEAD family in Australia I have been wondering about HARRIET for a long time...
(In fact have a granddaughter named Harriette)

It is encouraging to know that rootschat kind members are ready to help with evasive ancestors.

It would be good to find a death certificate for Harriet Halstead.

Her sister,Emily Halstead went to Canada as an adult and died in there.

 I stick by this from my earlier post on this subject, therefore I would find her death cert in America
