If Harriet (t) Halstead/Halsted died in 1914 surely there must be an American census that can be referred to prior to 1914 ?

Just answering my own question....NOW I see that Emily re-married in Wpg. 1910 to Arthur THOMAS. No wonder I couldn't spot her in any census. :)

It was Harriett Halstead who I was wondering was in a USA census prior to her death

In that case it seems she is not the one born in Essex, Southminster, therefore she has gone AWOL !!

Have you written the Maldon Registration District to see if a Halsted child was accidentally omitted from the records sent to London for compilation.
You know she was born in Southminster 1849/1850 but perhaps not named Harriet on her registration or the last name was muddled.
They are the original registration office and have the most complete records.

The strange thing is Harriet(t) Halstead/Halsted is listed on quite a few Ancestry family trees being born Southminster
