Harriet Halstead born abt 1850 in Southminster.Essex
« on: Wednesday 10 August 16 06:26 BST (UK) »
Did Harriet Halstead die in the workhouse?

Harriet Halstead was the 11th child of Samuel and Mary Ann HALTED nee Collis.
She was born in Southminster Essex act 1850.

Her parents both died the following year 1851.The last child in this Halstead family, Emily was born 18th September 1851.
After the deaths of the Halstead parents the children were in the care of the Wicks family. (They had 12 children of their own). Susannah Wicks was their aunt.

Little is known of Harriet HALSTEAD ,
any help as to her death would be appreciated

Whilst Harriett was admitted to the workhouse in St Pancras on 27 Aug 1857 she appears to have been discharged on 7 Sep 1857.

Thank you Kay for reply.
I have no idea why  Harriet Halstead went to workhouse
I have imagined the her aunt Mrs Susannah Wicks had so many children to care for
I cannot find a record of Harriet's death

The search continues,

Thank you Kay,
It looks like she was not dead in workhouse
wonder where she went then?

I think the death in 1914 that LM found refers to this person on Family Search
http://www.rootschat.com/links/01i68/  , this family in 1881  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MW9G-VKY  and with a later marriage of Lottie  - a child of Harriet  https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N3NP-6XF   However this Harriet Halstead is listed as born  in Canada in the 1881 census

Family tree shows
Harriett Halstead born about 1850
father Samuel 1805-1851
mother Mary Ann nee Collis 1809-1851
at least 5 siblings went to Australia

There is also, possibly nothing to do with this a family in St Pancras a marriage
Harriett Halstead full age father Samuel marrying
William Tillbrook full age father Edward
25/10/1859
of Frederick St
3 men all farmers

Was Harriet(t) in workhouse anything to do with this family
