Need help in find a birth record for Eliza Wallace/Wallis who stated on her marriage record that her birth was 29 July 1824 in Glasgow, she was my Great great grandmother.

She was the daughter of Thomas and Christina Campbell who arrived in Hobart Tasmania in 1833 from Dublin Ireland, Thomas was a stonemason ,  and later made their way to Adelaide South Australia where she married Joseph Hudson.

I have looked in Peoples Scotland for the family ,but couldn't find them.
Would love some help.
Aileen

Hi Aileen

I have Eliza being born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland, in about 1822, but another member of MyHeritage, who is a great great grandson of Joseph Hudson has her born in about 1829 in Derbyshire, England.  I'm not sure where I actually got my info from, but it appears I am closer to your info.  It seems strange that her parents would then have moved to Ireland, then out to South Australia and that her parents surname was Campbell.  If that surname is correct, then have you tried to search only for Eliza, born in 1824 no father's name given as she may have been born out of wedlock to Christina only, presumably Christina's surname at that time was Wallace.  I'll keep trying to hunt down info for you and will keep you posted on this forum.  Regards Christine

Thank you for your reply,Christine,

After rereading my request for Eliza , I have written her parents were Thomas and Christina Campbell, which should have read parents Thomas Wallace/Wallis and Christina Campbell.

This could be the Eliza from Glasgow, is there any more information on the record you have found?
From all the other researchers on the family no one has mentioned the Wallace's in England.

Aileen

".. Eliza Wallace/Wallis who stated on her marriage record that her birth was 29 July 1824 in Glasgow, she was my Great great grandmother"

Who married Joseph HUDSON in South Australia..........I am not seeing this on SA BDM.

It is not usual to find a birth date on a marriage certificate.

Can you please list all the information on the marriage certificate that you have.

Hi Wivenhoe,
I received that information from other researchers doing the Hudson family tree,
findmypast has a transcription of their marriage.

It doesn't say her birthdate but it says late of Glasgow LKS.

On her death certificate in 1907 her age is stated 83 and she was married at 16.
On her father death record her brother has stated her age as 30.

I have been in contact with a couple of the Wallace/Wallis family, who have been trying to trace the dates of the Wallace/Wallis children without success

My branch from the Eliza and Joseph Hudson is from Thomas

Aileen.
