Re my previous reply concerning staff records - I was recently informed by the staff at the City Archives in the Mitchell that they have the Maxwell and Stirling-Maxwell Estate papers which include some staff records.

Hi,

My grandfather was the butler to Sir John Stirling Maxwell at Pollok House and lived with my grandmother my Dad and 2 other sons in Shawmuir Cottage. They lived there until a good bit after after Sir John died.

Hi , My GGF , William Cowan, was the Clerk of Works and lived next cottage to the Vincents. Indeed, a Miss Vincent lived there when I visited Granny at Bankhead Cottage in the 70’s .

Regards Clark Ferguson
