Spring House, Rowley Regis

I am looking for any information or photographs on a building called Spring House, Rowley Regis.I bileive it was demolished and replaced with the Royal  Oak public house on the corner of Springfield Lane.

The Royal Oak is not on the corner of Springfield Lane. You can see it on the 1884 map at https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/395953/288491/12/100380 and on the 1968-1972 map at https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/395929/288486/13/100765

"Spring" is marked on the other side of the road to the Royal Oak.

There is are old houses opposite the Royal Oak about where Spring is marked on the maps. Is this the house you mean?

Thanks for the information. I was wondering  if you have any further information - i have a reference to my ancestor James Dunn who married a Ann Skidmore in 1841, They are both recorded on their marriage certificate as living at a Sprink House, Rowley Regis - I assume that this means Spring House! I think this may have been a public house. Any more information would be gratefully received.

Birmingham Journal, 10 Dec 1864

FREEHOLD AND OLD ESTABLISHED PUBLIC HOUSE called THE HALFWAY HOUSE
with Dwelling House, Outbuildings and Premises Adjoining
Situate at the SPRINK HOUSE, on the new road leading from Dudleyt o Rowley, in the Parish of Rowley Regis ... now and formany years in the occupation of Mrs Mary Plant and her under tenants
Clearly a "k"in the advert, not a "g".

If it is Sprink House then it is not marked on any maps. In the 1861 census Mary Plant is at a "Public House" Dudley New Road, Rowley, and in 1871 a licensed beer seller in Springfield. It could be that by 1884 the Halfway House had been renamed the Royal Oak.

Birmingham Journal, 9 Jun 1860

" ... situate at the "Knowle" in the Parish of Rowley Regis ... and lying immediately between the present Sprink House and Bourne Hill Collieries".

Can see "The Knowle" on the '81 map, south of The Royal Oak on the Dudley Road.
