baptism record of Charles Foreman 1836. Warminster.
« on: Sunday 10 July 16 07:33 BST (UK) »
I have decided not to renew my subs. to Ancestry & Find my Past as my research is about 99% complete. However, a couple of mysteries still remain.
Dec. 25th 1836 Charles Foreman was baptised at Warminster. The record is as follows :
Mother Mary Foreman.
FHL 1279363.
Reg. ID item 21, p 103. What I want to know is there any way of viewing this record ? I tried the Wiltshire OPCs with no result.
A little background, his mother was married to John Foreman who died in 1834, so who was Charles father ? Mary remarried an Isaac Brown, sadly she & Isaac died in the workhouse around 1855/6.
Despite a lot of research, Charles did not marry the obvious records, no death has been recorded. I have marriage & death certificates, quite a few in fact but not the right Charles.
I would just like to know if the baptismal record would give any extra information how would i be able to view it ?
Thank you.

The Wiltshire PR's will be at the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre. http://www.wshc.eu/
Staff there will undertake research on your behalf.
See: http://www.wshc.eu/enquiries-and-research.html

Alternatively, can you not order the film through your local LDS Family History Centre?

On Find My Past the transcription record shows Charles baptised on 25th December 1836 which you already know.

Baptised at St. Denys Church, Warminster.  Mother is just decribed as Mary and residence as Scotland which I thought was somewhat surprising.

No father's name mentioned at all.  Whether the original will show any further information I couldn't say.

Just for information on locations of LDS family history centres in Australia though they are probably too far away for you.

I have no idea why the word Scotland is there. yes I have death certificates. Charles was still alive in the 1851 census, living with Isaac.
My thoughts were as the child was baptised in the church, the word 'illegitimate' might have been beside his name.
