Wow! eileenwilson, that's fantastic! It doesn't solve the Peter and Susanna mystery, but at least my thoughts are on par with someone else :D

I can check the land records for that property to see what I find (ie, when did Peter first appear in Scott Township and where did he come from).

Wow, i'm so pleased to come across this information.  I've been researching for a long while to find my heritage connected to Uxbridge.  Peter Pilch is the brother of my direct lineage Mark Benjamin Pilch who was born in Uxbridge.   I have not been able to locate any birth records for him, where he lived or even a census where he is living in Uxbridge.
Any information on Mark B Pilch would be very helpful.   I'd also be interested to learn more about Joseph Pilch.
Regards,
Brian

Correction, Mark Benjamin Pilch according to a 1861 Census was born in England and came to Canada with his sister and father Josep Pilch.   I'm not certain if he in fact was born in England or if he was born in Uxbridge like most information had shown.

Mark Benjamin's marriage in 1884 indicates he was born in Uxbridge Township, the son of Joseph & Elizabeth.  If he was born in Uxbridge, there will be no birth record as civil registration did not begin until 1869.

1871 Census indicates he was 9 years of age, born in England, along with his sister, Ann Sarah, aged 18.  Joseph indicates he is 87 years of age??  Elizabeth is 46.

I'm seeing a marriage of Joseph & Elizabeth (nee Slater) in 1846 in All Saints, Norwich.  Joseph is shown as a widower.  Joseph dies in 1886, aged 89, which is likely closer to his actual age.

1861 Census has the family in Uxbridge, but Mark is not shown with them, so this would seem to indicate that he was likely born there.  Two older sisters, Hannah M., aged 12, and Sarah A., aged 8, both born in England.

William Doughty and Wynne/Winifred nee Pilch stayed in England you can follow them through the
census living in Erpingham.

Luke Pilch marriage failed in 1841 he and Faith are living apart she had 2 illegitimate children
James Pilch bap 3 January 1830 and Charles Blackbourn Pilch bap 15 April 1832 -Aylsham. The register states she is a married woman and both children are illegitimate.
Luke died 1871 (he is in the workhouse1871) Faith age 64 then marries John Blackbourn 1873 he is also 64.
