Quine Surname

My 2nd great grandfather was Robert Quine who immigrated from the Isle of Man to Texas sometime in the 1850's. I believe he came to the USA with his mother and at least one brother. He married Suzanne Bassel in Texas. I am trying to find information on his ancestral origins.

Do you have his father's and mother's names?

Using www.imuseum.im, and checking for People named "Robert Quine", 1800-1861, gives 28 baptisms!

So, we need to narrow the field a little ;D


It's also worthwhile taking a look at ManxNoteBook (www.manxnotebook.com), which contains a wealth of information purtaining to the Isle of Man.

Is Robert Quine in Rochester, Monroe, New York in 1880 census?

His year of birth 1835, Isle of Man, both parents born Isle of Man. Widowed. Occupation; Stone mason.

Living with him daughter Jane Quine born 1866.

Robert Quine, son of Robert Quine and Jane (Kermode).

I posted earlier some information on my ancestor Robert Quine. I apologize for not putting additional information. I just searched for some data a cousin had and found his date of birth to be 3 Apr 1830. His mother's name is listed as Elinor Corlett and he had a brother by the name of John born abt. 1840 in Ballaugh, Isle of Man. I'm not certain how my cousin obtained the information.
