Omagh Co Tyrone Army Recruiting 1918
« on: Tuesday 05 July 16 21:52 BST (UK) »
Would anyone know how to locate the records held as a result of the Omagh Army Recruitment drive in Omagh in 1918. I have seen notification which states that a James Black JNR of Douglas Bridge was not accepted for service. I think this could be my grandfather and I would be keen to see the reason why and any other details about his parentage.

Thanks

It's not as straight-forward as the original post implies. See other thread for more information-

No, it's not straight forward at all! My grandfather James Stephen Black was born 22 Aug 1895 or 96 as far as I can tell. I got that info from a 1941 ration card I managed to come across. I'm interested in where the records of the recruiting unit in Omagh at that time would be held. Which corps or regiments where recruiting in that area or was it a general army recruitment drive.

It is likely that any records no longer exist.

Can you explain where you've seen this?
